Start Your Journey – Virtual Work Experience – FAQS

Q. I am not studying a technology related subject – can I still apply for the Technology event?

A. Yes absolutely. This event is about bringing a career in technology to life so that both students who are studying tech, and those who may not have previously considered a tech-based career can find out more. The sessions will include a balance between work-related /employability skills, and more specific coding/problem solving/tech based skills.

If you’re exploring tech for the first time, we appreciate there may be some terms that you’re not as familiar with – but please don’t worry – the purpose of this event is to encourage you to find out more.

Q. When will the events run?

A. Both Employability and Technology based events will run numerous times throughout summer 2022 (from June – September). Employability events are 3 days and Technology 4 days. Ffollowing the assessment stage, we’ll share all the specific event dates and you’ll be able to book into the one that suits you best.

Q. Can you tell me more about the logistics for the events?

A. Both events will take place numerous times over the summer so that we can offer a small-group, interactive and personalised experience to as many of you as possible. You’ll be invited to book into a date that suits you, and you’ll attend for 3 (Employability) or 4 (Technology) consecutive days. This means you’ll get to know other attendees and start to build relationships and networks with one another. Each day will have a jam-packed agenda from 9am – 5pm, including interactive sessions, break out rooms, presentations and more – with regular breaks. Everyone will join the events remotely via zoom.

Q. Do I have to attend all 3 (or 4) days in a row?

A. We strongly recommend that you do – the events are designed to cover a wide range of work-readiness tools and skills to help equip you for your future. We believe that each day has something valuable to offer you, which will help you build confidence.

Q. Who can I contact if I need support during my application?

A. If your questions are not answered here, please contact

Q. I have a disability or long term health condition, who can I speak to about Reasonable Adjustments for the assessment process?
